Pray Today Pope Francis’ Favorite Devotion — The Prayer to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots

The devotion to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, is one of Pope Francis’ favorite devotions. While he was still Archbishop of Buenos Aires, during a visit to Germany, he was deeply impressed by the image of the Virgin Mary “undoing the knots in the ribbon of married life” and by the story associated with it.
The word “knot” refers to all those problems we often carry for years without knowing how to resolve them; to all the sins that keep us bound and prevent us from welcoming God into our lives; and to the various disappointments, personal struggles, and family problems that take away the joy from our hearts and our desire to live.
Prayer to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots
Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, Mother who has never abandoned any child who asks for help, Mother whose hands never cease working for your beloved children because they are filled with divine love and infinite mercy flowing from your heart, turn your compassionate gaze toward me. See the knots that are suffocating my life. You know my distress and sorrow. You know how deeply these knots paralyze me. Mary, Mother to whom God has entrusted the task of undoing the knots in the lives of your children, I place my life in your hands. No one, not even the Evil One, can take away your merciful help.
In your hands, there is no “knot” that you cannot undo. Almighty Mother, through your grace and the power of your intercession with your Son Jesus, my Redeemer, receive today this “knot” . . . (name it, if possible). For the glory of God, I ask you to undo it forever. I trust in you! You are the unique Consoler whom God has given me, the strength of my weakness, the richness of my poverty, and freedom from everything that prevents me from being with Christ. Hear my plea. Guard me, guide me, and protect me. You are my safe refuge!
“Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, pray for me!”
