Miracle in Medjugorje: “Jesus smiled at me and took me by the hand; then I stood up on my own.” Gigliola Candian testifies to the immense grace she received in Medjugorje. She lives in Fossò, in the province of Venice. On September 13, 2014, she was on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, where she arrived in a wheelchair. “I was not even supposed to be there on that date, because my friends were getting married that day, and I had even bought a dress for the occasion.”
Miracle in Medjugorje: “I saw the face of Jesus smiling at me.”
Gigliola Candian suffered from a severe form of atypical multiple sclerosis for a good 10 years, and at the time she came to Medjugorje, she could no longer move her legs. “I was in the chapel in my wheelchair. There were other people there as well, recollected in prayer for their own intentions. The priest invited me to close my eyes and placed his hands on me. At that moment, I felt a great heat in my legs and saw a very white light. Within that light, I saw the face of Jesus smiling at me. It was a miracle.

My wheelchair ended up in the corner.
I began taking the first two steps — I looked like a robot — then I took two more firm steps, and I was even able to bend my knees. I felt as if I were walking on water. At that moment, I felt Jesus holding me by the hand, and I began to walk. There were people crying, praying, and applauding at the sight of what was happening. Since then, my wheelchair has ended up in the corner. I use it only when I travel long distances, but I try not to use it anymore, because now I can stand on my own feet. The miracle mentioned by Gigliola Candian is currently being examined by doctors, but in the meantime, her life has changed drastically since the days when she was ill.
She feels obliged to testify about it to everyone. “Spiritually, I pray much more, especially at night. I can distinguish good from evil much better. Thanks to prayer, we are able to overcome difficulties and temptations. Good always conquers evil. On a physical level, the great change is that I no longer use a wheelchair. I can walk, and now I help myself with a walker. Before, I could only walk about 20 meters; now I can walk even a kilometer without getting tired. It is a miracle and the power of faith that Medjugorje breathes. Thanks and glory be to God!”
